Towada machi(十和田町)

< Towada City, Aomori >
The Towada area is famous for horse breeding, azaleas, and rice.  Breeding farms in the area raised cavalry horses for the Imperial Japanese Army.  These horses were very suitable for serving in cold weather climates like Manchuria and Siberia.  Horses and azalea blossoms are the main features shown on the brown version of the Towada manhole cover.

<青森県十和田市>
