Inakadate-mura(田舎館村)

The words "Inakadate" and "Tareyanagi Iseki" are engraved on this manhole cover from Inakadate, just outside Hirosaki. There is a Tareyanagi ruins in Hirosaki city which is paddy ruins in Yayoi period. Many earthenware sculptures, were excavated from the Tareyanagi Iseki.  Inakadate is very famous throughout Japan for its rice field art.  Giant rice fields are planted with 5 varieties of rice.  The rice varieties are planted in elaborate grids to form gigantic representations of famous artworks and famous personalities from throughout history.  Lookup "Inakadate Rice Fields" on Google to see some of the unique rice art.

弘前市には、弥生時代の水田遺跡、垂柳遺跡があり、そこでは土器が沢山発掘されたことで有名です。
