A pheasant is prominently portrayed on Nango-mura's manhole cover. Nango-mura is famous for its annual jazz festival in late July that attracts performers from all over Japan and from the United States. The festival is held in the Cuckoo Forest Ecoland Paradise Park. Nango-mura is just south of Hachinohe.
