The Shimoda area, near Misawa in Aomori, is famous for the many white swans that spend the winter at Shimoda Park. One of the swans is depicted on the Shimoda manhole covers. The park is also popular with wintering ducks, and is a nice cherry blossom viewing spot in the Spring.
