The Akiruno manhole cover shows fish navigating up the rapids on the Tama River, which flows past the city. We loved playing in the Tama River with our dog Andi. The river was two blocks from our house, and on hot days, we loved taking a picnic lunch, along with some cold beers, and putting a blanket on the grass by the river. We would hop in to cool down. We lived in Hamura, on the border with Akiruno. The street in front of our house was the border. This manhole cover photo was taken on our street.
